Iglesia de San Martín

This church in Malasaña is a magnificent example of Madrid Baroque from the second half of the 17th century. It was one of the oldest in the city, originally located in the Plaza de las Descalzas. During the reign of Joseph I Bonaparte it was demolished, but its name and worship were transferred to the present building in 1836, during the disentailment of Mendizábal, occupying what had been the convent of Portacoeli de Clérigos Menores.
